RM of Cut Knife’s story
The Rural Municipality of Cut Knife No. 439 was incorporated as a rural municipality on December 13, 1909. It surrounds the town of Cut Knife, where the RM's office is located, and is governed by an elected council and an appointed administrator.
Rockhaven, which was once a village, was dissolved as such on December 31, 2007 and is now a special service area within the RM. Other communities and localities within its boundaries include Cutoff Junction, Gallivan, Tatsfield and Wilbert.
Today the area is known for attractions such as the Clayton McLain Memorial Museum, the World's Largest Tomahawk and the Chief Poundmaker Historical Center, along with Atton Lake Regional Park and Table Mountain Regional Park. The Canadian Pacific Railway and Highways 21, 40 and 674 pass through the municipality.
